At Boca Smile Center, we offer comprehensive general dentistry services at our Boca Raton, FL dentist office to keep your smile healthy, confident and bright. Our team emphasizes the power of preventive care and effective oral hygiene habits to protect your smile for life. We recommend a checkup every six months to stay ahead of any potential problems and are happy to treat patients starting at age 12.
During your regular cleaning appointment, our team will thoroughly assess your teeth and gums for any signs of gum disease, oral cancer or tooth decay. If we see anything concerning, we will fully inform you and listen to all of your thoughts about treatment options. Boca Smile Center is proud to be your partner in protecting your oral health–and in promoting your overall health!
Boca Smile Center offers a full spectrum of general dentistry and preventive dental services, including:
Professional Teeth Cleanings (Prophylaxis)
Dental prophylaxis is a cleaning procedure that thoroughly cleans the teeth. It is an important preventive measure to help stop the progression of gingivitis and periodontal disease. We recommend our orally healthy patients receive this type of procedure twice a year.
If you suffer from dental anxiety, Dr. Capellan may recommend oral sedation. These anti-anxiety pills tone down activity in the parts of your brain that cause you to feel anxious or afraid. Remember, if you take oral sedation, you cannot drive before or after your appointment. Bring a friend or family member with you to make sure you arrive and get back home safely following your appointment.
Oral Cancer Screening
Tobacco users aren’t the only ones who should be concerned about oral cancer. Oral cancer is on the rise. That’s why at Boca Smile Center we provide oral cancer screenings as part of your regular-checkup to all of our patients over the age of 18.
Chronic halitosis is a common problem with more than 50 million people suffering in the United States alone. Common halitosis remedies like mouthwashes and breath mints are often sufficient to mask the symptoms, but if you’re concerned about the root cause, schedule an appointment with Dr. Capellan to discuss your treatment options.
Our practice uses digital x-rays to produce enhanced computer images of our patient’s teeth, gums, and other oral structures and conditions. Digital x-rays are key to early detection and effective treatment of dental problems and also expose patients to less radiation than traditional film x-rays.
2D Panoramic X-Rays
2D panoramic x-rays are wraparound photographs of the face and teeth. This type of x-ray rotates around a patient's head and can show our dental team a view of your teeth and mouth that would otherwise be invisible. Our team at Boca Smile Center often uses panoramic x-ray technology to:
- Evaluate patients who suffer with an extreme gag reflex
- View cysts and abnormalities in the mouth.
- Clearly view impacted teeth.
- Diagnose fractures in the jaw
- Accurately plan treatment for things like dentures and braces
- Clearly reveal gum disease and cavities that need to be treated
The Wand Pain-free Injection
At Boca Smile Center, we offer The Wand, a state-of-the-art digital platform for local anesthesia to our patients. This pain-free injection is more comfortable than a traditional syringe, reducing your pain and dental anxiety!
Seal off deep grooves in the molars that are vulnerable to tooth decay with this inexpensive and effective preventive treatment. Dental sealants guard against cavities by forming a “shield” over the enamel of your teeth, keeping out bacteria and acids. Ask about pediatric dental sealants!
The application of fluoride is recommended by dentists to help remineralize weak areas of tooth enamel, keeping them resilient against cavity-causing bacteria.
Desensitizing Treatments for Sensitive Teeth
For patients who are suffering with tooth sensitivity, we use Gluma Desensitizer to eliminate sensitivity. Most of our patients see a difference right away, so if you're experiencing tooth sensitivity, let Dr. Capellan know during your next check-up!
Athletic Mouth Guards
If you or your child are involved in any type of sports, wearing a custom fitted mouth guard is one of your best pieces of insurance. Not only does it protect teeth, it also reduces the risk of concussion.
Extraction is a last resort, but sometimes it is necessary. Badly infected teeth can jeopardize the health of their neighbors, including healthy teeth and gum tissue. Fortunately, we can help!
